Event Description:
Recycled Percussion, a Las Vegas based “junk rock” band, will be taking the stage at St. Norbert College on September 18th at 7:00 PM for a concert benefiting the Cassandra Voss Center. Justin Spencer, who has been named “the world’s fastest extreme drummer”, formed Recycled Percussion in 1995. They became a national phenomenon during their performances on America’s Got Talent, where the group placed third out of more than 100,000 acts and became the first non-singing act to place in the top three in show history. Now Las Vegas headliners, they will be bringing their interactive audience experience filled with music, comedy, acrobatics and junk/rock drumming to the stage of the Walter Theater. Whether playing on buckets, ladders, grinders or sinks, their unprecedented mix of extreme percussion, engaging humor, and extraordinary athleticism are sure to delight and inspire. Tickets are available for purchase for $60 at the SNC box office, by phone at (920) 403-3950, and online at http://www.snc.edu/tickets/. Cassandra Voss was a passionate young woman with a strong vision of a juster and more humane world. With a huge smile, creative flair, and determination, she pursued a double major in Women’s and Gender Studies and English, with a minor in Art. She was to graduate in the spring of 2008 as the pioneering student at St. Norbert College to major in Women’s and Gender Studies, when she was involved in a fatal car accident. Although her life was cut short her indomitable spirit and sense of mission still live on in the work of the center that bears her name. The fundraising concert will take place on September 18th in celebration of Cassie’s 33rd birthday, and the 5th birthday of the Center. The event will be held at St. Norbert College, in the Hall of Fine Arts—Walter Theatre, 315 Third Street, De Pere, WI. All proceeds from the concert, and any additional donations given at the event, will be used to support scholarships and the work of the Cassandra Voss Center.
